The Sacred City of Rajasthan: Pushkar

                                  When you think of Rajasthan, you think of colors, spices, magnificent forts and history. After visiting the Pink city of the state, I took a stroll towards the sacred city of Pushkar which is not so far from the capital. It only takes two to three hours from Jaipur to get to Pushkar. The city gets its name from the Lotus flower, which has its own mythological story. According to Hindu scripture Padma Purana, when Lord Brahma came down to the earth, he named the place where the lotus flower (pushp) fell from his hand (kar) and hence the place got its name as Pushkar. Pushkar is one of the ancient cities of the country and is known for its religious significance as the city is home to over 500 temples among the famous Brahma Temple and the golden Jain Temple.
